Seaforde farmer Alan Chambers chats to South Down MP Chris Hazzard at Westminster at a meeting organised by the Ulster Farmers Union.

The Ulster Farmers Union and the Farmers For Action have lobbied the government strongly over their plans to introduce a farm tax.

He added: “This shameful plan will place an unbearable financial burden on farming families,”

“Family farms play a vital role in our economy, rural communities and food supply.

“The proposals are unacceptable and would have devastating consequences for rural families.

“The British government must listen to the farming community before irreparable damage is done.”

Chris Hazzard MP visited Westminster to support farmers under pressure from the Farm Tax pending to become legislation in 2026. The meeting was organised by the UFU.
