Elite League,
Saturday 20th October –
The Stena Line Belfast Giants made it two wins over the Milton Keynes Lightning in as many nights with a 5-1 Saturday victory. The Giants, playing a three game road weekend, saw goals from Bishop, Riley, Rutherford and Johner (2) make it four points from four so far this weekend writes Mark Brooks.

Captain Blair Riley doubled the Belfast lead at 11:49 with a cool finish after Guillaume Gelinas’ shot cannoned off the post.

Lightning’s Trevor Morbeck pulled one back for the home side with 80 seconds remaining in the period, assisted by Tim Wallace and Owen Griffiths.
But a Belfast Double extended the advantage. David Rutherford restored the Giants two goal lead at 29:39, assisted by Blair Riley, with a fine finish at the back post.
It what was almost a carbon-copy of the third goal when Dustin Johner made it 4-1 at 33:20 after Josh Roach picked out the forward at the back post.
Johner’s second goal sealed the road win. Dustin Johner posted his goal of the game at 55:34 when he fired top shelf past Patrick Killeen in the Lightning goal, assisted by Kyle Baun and Hunter Bishop.
