Getting The Most Out Of The Banbridge Job Fair

To coincide with this week’s Job Fair at Banbridge Leisure Centre, Jan Jones, Employment Manager at Banbridge Jobs & Benefits Office, is offering advice on how to prepare for the big day.

The Job Fair, which is sponsored by the Department for Communities and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, runs between 10am and 3pm on Thursday 16th June at Banbridge Leisure Centre.

Jan Jones, Banbridge Employment Manager.

Jobseekers are invited to come along to talk to Employers about job opportunities throughout the borough. The event also offers information on training opportunities as well as careers guidance and practical advice to improve your chance of finding employment. Vacancies are available from large and small employers in a range of sectors, including: manufacturing, construction, retail, catering, warehousing, engineering and call centres.
Job Fairs are an invaluable tool for identifying employment opportunities as well as learning industry information and meeting recruiting ‘companies’ face to face. However it is essential that you go prepared.

To ensure you get the most from the job fair, consider the following:
*  Research the organisations that are exhibiting at the fair beforehand and prepare questions in advance if possible to ask them.

Remember that this is also a networking opportunity. As a job seeker, you should collect as many relevant business cards as possible and make a good first impression. This includes dressing appropriately when attending the Job Fair
*  Keep an open mind – there might be companies you’ve never heard of which have great opportunities; companies you think you know might challenge your expectations about their culture and what they do; and some companies might offer roles that you don’t expect. Check the job fair guide online or on the day to see what they offer.
*  Come with a notebook – it will help you to remember their advice come application time!
British Sign Language and Irish Sign Language Interpreters will be available between 10am until 12 noon.
