Popular entertainer George Jones is to make an appearance at the Killyleagh Presbyterian Church during the annual mission outreach
Former BBC Radio Ulster presenter and Clubsound leader George Jones and the Christian group, Heart and Soul, are to appear at a musical evening in Killyleagh later this month.
Killyleagh Presbyterian Church is staging its annual mission outreach and one of the highlights will be the appearance of Jones on Saturday 28 September at 7.30pm.
Jones is a founder member of the showband Clubsound, which he fronted for 50 years. He started off with the Monarchs, which included his childhood friend Van Morrison.
For 21 years George Jones also presented his own radio show on BBC Radio Ulster.
George says that Christianity has given him a new purpose in life.
“The turning point for me to Christianity was I suddenly realised that every talent I have was given to me by God,” he said.
George will talk about his life story at the free event which is open to everyone. Heart and Soul will perform at in the Plantation Street meeting house in the town.
The evening will follow the same format as last year’s highly successful visit by Live Issue.
The following weekend, Sunday 6 October, the church will hold its annual harvest thanksgiving services in the Catherine Street meeting house at 11am and 7pm.
