There has been a gas leak at the Ulster Hospital this morning after a digger hit a gas main on the site of the new Acute Services Block around 8.30am.
The gas leak has now been isolated and the Fire & Rescue Service have informed us that there is no danger to staff or patients and no need for evacuation. More news later on.

GAS LEAK AT ULSTER HOSPITAL NOW CONTAINED
There was a gas leak at the Ulster Hospital this morning, on the construction site for the new Acute Services Block. It has now been isolated, with no danger to patients or staff and no need for evacuation.
It happened around 8.30am when a digger hit a gas main, and a 50 metre exclusion zone was set up until the gas could be turned off. The nearby laundry was closed as a precaution, and ventilation was turned off inside some parts of the hospital for a short time. The NI Fire and Rescue Service said there was no danger and the situation was resolved within 30 minutes.
