Gaelic Club Notes for Sunday 8th October

Bright GAC

Congratulations to the Bright Under 14 girls championship result

Drumaness  4-0. Bright  6-13.

Bright U14 girls faced Drumaness on Sunday in the second round of the Championship.

Following on from last week’s victory they knew they would have a tough game.

Drumaness got 2 goals early on in the first half giving them the lead.

A penalty awarded to and taken by Bright’s Cliodhna Kelly brought the girls back into the game.

The Bright U14 girls team.

Both teams went on the attack and finished the first half with Bright in front by a few points.

Bright switched things up in the second half and played a sweeper to keep the goal opportunities to a minimal.

Drumaness were given a penalty but Bright’s keeper Katie Flynn got her foot to it resulting in a point being scored.

This lifted the spirits of the young Bright team and they finished up the game as winners.

There were strong performances throughout the field and it truly was an exceptional game of football to watch for both teams. The score line does not reflect the standard of played football today.

Well done Bright girls!

This years club AGM will take place on Wednesday 18th October in Bright Community Centre at 7.30pm.

The club welcomes members old and new and anyone who wishes to get involved in any capacity.

St John’s GAC.

Our Senior ladies played in the Intermediate A Championship final on Saturday afternoon and were unfortunately beat by the strong Rostrevor team who have only narrowly beat the Johnnies during the league.

The St John’s ladies battle against a strong Rostrevor side.

Rostrevor opened the game with the first point, and went 1.4 ahead without a reply from the Johnnies until they got a 1.4 return shortly after.

Although they battled hard throughout the second half, a last minute goal from Alannah Megoran only softened the defeat, with a final score of St John’s 2.8-2.16 Rostrevor.

We would like to thank all of the businesses, friends and family who sponsored our senior ladies for the final.
