Four Week Dementia Training Course Available

Do you, or someone you know, support or care for a family member, friend or neighbour with dementia?

Kelly Barbour, Dementia Healthcare Co-ordinator with 3FiveTwo Healthcare, said:  “We are offering a great opportunity to informal caregivers who would like to gain the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to better equip themselves in supporting a loved one with dementia.

“The programme is free to attend and the themes covered will help you to manage and cope as the dementia progresses.  It will also enable you to meet with other people in a similar situation and you will be given a handbook to store up to date resources, leaflets and local information to assist you in supporting yourself and the person you care for.

“The 4 week programme will be delivered over 3 hour workshop sessions.”

Workshop themes include:

* What is Dementia?
* Legal and Financial issues
* Learning to Manage
* Communication and dealing with challenging behaviours
* Health and Well being
* Local support services
