Flann’s Yer Only Man Coming To The Down Arts Centre

Bare Bodkin Theatre Company will be bringing Val O’Donnell’s hilarious ‘Flann’s Yer Only Man’ to the Down Arts Centre for one night only on Friday 15 April at 8pm.

masksFlann’s Yer Only Man’ is a show based on the life and work of Flann O’Brien, aka Myles na Gopaleen, aka Brian O’Nolan (1911-1966), who is widely regarded as Ireland’s finest satirist since Jonathan Swift.

Val O’Donnell will re-enact a wide range of extracts from the humourist’s novels and his celebrated Cruiskeen Lawn column in the Irish Times with these being linked with key biographical events in the writer’s life.

Flann’s Yer Only Man’ was first performed in the Palace Bar, Fleet St. in Dublin on 5 October 2011 which was the centenary of the writer’s birth. Since then, as well as theatre performances, it has played at Listowel Writers’ Week Literary Festival, the Flann O’Brien Literary Festival in Strabane and the Swift Satire Festival in Trim.
