Fishing Boat Crew Rescued By Portaferry Lifeboat

Portaferry RNLI have rescued two men on board a fishing vessel near Ardglass, County Down.

An RNLIxa0spokesperson said: “The volunteer lifeboat crew at Portaferry RNLI were called out today, Monday 28 August, to the aid of men on board the 30-feet xa0fishing boat, the Niaroo, close to Ardglass harbour.

“The request for help was received at 11.30am and the volunteer crew launched ten minutes later to the aid of the stricken vessel which had suffered a gear box engine failure.

“At the time, sea conditions were calm and the weather was partly cloudy with a slight breeze.

“The lifeboat crew arrived on the scene within twenty minutes and gave assistance by towing the vessel, a crab boat, and her two man crew back safely to the safety of Ardglass Harbour.”
