Experience Art Alfresco in Portaferry and Castle Espie

Aspiring artists have the opportunity to experience ‘Art Alfresco’ as part of this year’s Creative Peninsula, organised by Ards Borough Council.

Special outdoor ‘Art Alfresco’ workshops led by local professional artists will teach participants how to improve their painting and sketching skills.dn_screen

Speaking about the workshops, Emily Walsh, Arts Officer for Ards Borough Council said:xa0“The Art Alfresco workshops are a great way for budding and experienced artists to improve their skills with coaching from local artists, while they spend the day using their newly honed skills to create their own illustration or watercolour painting.

“Situated in beautiful outdoor locations, participants are sure to be inspired to get creative drawing or painting their own piece of art to take home.”

Watercolour painting with Joyce Brown, onxa0Wednesday 7 August, will begin at the Market House, Portaferry, with a demonstration of watercolour techniques before (weather permitting) travelling to a scenic location near Strangford Lough to paint for the rest of the day.

Illustration with Bernice Anderson will be held in Castle Espie onxa0Saturday 10 Augustxa0and is for anyone who enjoys sketching and using watercolours. xa0Bernice will demonstrate how participants can improve their skills using simple yet effective pen and wash techniques.

Art Alfresco is part of Ards Borough Council’s popular Creative Peninsula and Open Studio Event, which gives people a rare opportunity to see and engage with Artists and Makers, either at their own studios, at exhibitions, at workshops, or at the Craft in the Square events.
