DUP Totally Out Of Step On Brexit Says Hazzardxa0

Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has said the DUP is totally out of step with the views of the people of the North on Brexit.

Sinn Féin South Down MP Chris Hazzard has said the DUP have their heads in the sand over Brexit.

The South Down MP said:xa0“Ever since the Brexit referendum when the majority of people of the North voted to reject Brexit, the DUP has been totally out of step with people’s views on Brexit.

“We have had the business community, representatives of the farming and agri-food sector, construction, hauliers and many other sectors warning of the disastrous consequences of Brexit to our economy.

“In the latest warning, we now have Bombardier and the head of the civil service detailing the impact of a crash-out, no deal Brexit.

“The DUP has ignored all these warnings, and the warnings of their own allies in the British government, in their pursuit of a fantasy, undeliverable Brexit.

“In doing so they have shown utter contempt for the people of the North, jeopardising their economic future.

“There is a deal on the table in the Withdrawal Agreement with anIrish backstop in it and the DUP needs to take its head out of the sand, stop ignoring the dire warnings on Brexit, and listen to the view of the majority in the North.”
