Dundrum And Rossglass In Six Goal Drama

Rossglass made the short coastal trip to take on Dundrum in what was an encounter that either team could have won. The game ended a 3-3 draw but had Rossglass taken their chances particularily in the first half, they could won the game quite easily writes CyrilMcKinney.

Dundrum started well and forced the first corner but Rossglass quickly settled and Oran Tumelty brought a smart save from Andrew Smyth in the Dundrum nets.

From the resulting corner Ben Lennon tested Smyth again with the Dundrum keeper smartly tipping the ball over the bar. The breakthrough was not long in coming as Ben Lennon latched on to a through ball and fired to the net to give the visitors a well deserved lead.

Dundrum responded driven on by Shane Todd and Marty Melville and were on level terms on 18 minutes as Chris Mulholland took advantage  of poor marking  and made no mistake from close range to make it 1-1.

Both teams had missed chances when in good positions before Rossglass went ahead with a disputed decision from the referee who ruled a long throw-in got a touch on before ending up in the net on 35 minutes.

Dundrum’s Chris Hogg and Chris Hamilton from Rossglass both were shown yellow in quick succession and the visitors finished the half strongly with Oran Tumelty testing the keeper with a long range valley.

Within 9 minutes of the restart Dundrum were on level terms as Kyle Glavin finished a good move to make it 2-2. Rossglass rallied again and Oran Tumelty surged forward but hit the side netting from a narrow angle. Dundrum’s Nathan Farquahar was booked for a heavy tackle on Cormac McLaughlin who never fully recovered and had to be eventually replaced by Paul McGarry.

Dundrum went ahead on 57 minutes as Chris Mulholland cut in from the left and from a sharp angle drilled the ball past Gareth Brown in the Rossglass nets.

The lead did not last long and Paul McGarry rescued the situation for Rossglass with a great finish from the edge of the box.  From then it was end-to-end with both keepers having to be alert to secure a point for both teams.

Dundrum had much of the play but could not finish the job and could have been undone right at the finish as substitute Blain Lennon just missed with a well-taken long range volley.
