Private GP Clinic in Newry Re-Opens.

Duality Health in Newry which is a private GP surgery has re-opened following closure due to Covid 19. Business are now being given the green light to get back to work but some sectors may lag behind such as the hospitality, bar and restaurant sector writes Kevin McAteer.

Based at 9 Monaghan Street, Newry, the GP surgery boosts low waiting times and an array of services. Services include HGV/Taxi medical, ear wax removal, insurance medicals, coil removal, implants, STD testing, bloods, executive MOTs, minor surgery and vaccinations annd other services. The surgery is run by Doctor Declan Morgan.

Dr Morgan is an NHS-trained GP who qualified from Edinburgh University in 2004. He trained extensively in Scotland and England before relocating home to Newry where he was educated at St. Colman’s College.

Dr Morgan has been an NHS GP Partner in both England and Northern Ireland and is acutely aware of the health inequalities in South Down. He has also worked for over 10 years in acute and unscheduled care and is well placed to deliver an Out-of-Hours service responsive to modern needs.

Dr Morgan gained Membership of the Royal College of General Practice and the Diploma in Family Planning, Sexual and Reproductive Health from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has been an NHS GP Principal since 2010 and has qualifications in Minor Surgery from the R.C.G.P. and R.C.S. and certification in the insertion and removal of contraceptive implants. He has been undertaking surgical procedures regularly for over 10 years.

Speaking to Down News, Dr Morgan said: “The modern NHS GP has less time to spend with patients, impacting upon patient satisfaction, safety and ultimately the doctor-patient relationship.

“Duality Health is an attempt to redress this balance. I hope that the access, responsiveness and high quality of our care not only improves patient satisfaction, but leads the way for new General Practice delivery.”
