Dr Milhench Retires As Anaesthetist From Downe Hospital

Dr Myles Milhench has retired from the Downe Hospital as Consultant Anaesthetist following 27 year’s service.

Dr Milhench qualified in Medicine from The Queen’s University, Belfast, in 1976 and following House Officer posts at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, he entered the Northern Ireland Anaesthetic Training Scheme.

He was appointed Consultant Anaesthetist to The Borders Health Board in Melrose Scotland in 1984 where he developed the first Intensive Care Unit in the Borders and served on the Commissioning Team for the New Borders General Hospital which opened in 1988.

He moved to The Downe Hospital in 1988 and was Chairman of Medical Staff on several occasions and Clinical Director for five years and was heavily involved in the development of the new Downe Hospital.
