Campbell and Hanlon welcome works to begin on Downpatrick’s Church Street
Sinn Féin Councillors Philip Campbell and Oonagh Hanlon have welcomed confirmation that work on the £2.9 million Church Street Public Realm Scheme is due to begin in early August.
The Downpatrick DEA representatives said the project marks another important milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Downpatrick town centre.
Councillor Philip Campbell said: “Our Sinn Féin team has worked collaboratively to secure the £2.9 million investment. It’s great to now see the project moving towards the delivery stage, with work due to begin in early August.
“Church Street and De Courcy Place are key gateways into Downpatrick, and these improvements will help create a more attractive, accessible, and welcoming town centre for our residents, businesses, and visitors.”
Councillor Oonagh Hanlon added: “Downpatrick will remain open for business throughout the works, and I’d encourage everyone to continue supporting our local shops, cafés and businesses.
“This is an important investment in the future of our town.”
