Downpatrick Racecourse hits the top three in best value-for-money racecourses in Ireland says Racing Post
Downpatrick Racecourse has been found to be Ireland’s third best value for money racecourse, offering the second cheapest ticket price across Northern Ireland and the Republic, according to the Racing Post Price Index.
Making a return in 2025, the Racing Post Racecourse Price Index has analysed the cost of a day at the races up and down the country.
With the Irish Jumps season set to return to the calendar in September, the Racing Post has analysed how much it will cost for a casual punter to spend a day at their local track with 22 on offer up and down the country over the Autumn and Winter to choose from.

Using the price of a general admission ticket for a non-Premier Raceday, the cheapest pint on offer, the price of a burger plus the track’s TripAdvisor or Google Review rating, you will now know how much it will set you back per person should you be heading to a track this Autumn and all through Winter.
Downpatrick Racecourse is the third best value for money track across Northern and the Republic of Ireland, with a very good 4.6 star rating on TripAdvisor, putting it within the top five tracks for racegoer experience.
The Northern Irish track charges £12 (~€13.75) for an entry ticket, which makes it the second cheapest Irish racecourse to attend and within the top 10 cheapest in the UK.
With pints at Downpatrick costing as little as £5.50 (~€6.30), they are good value in both Irish and British contexts; they are the third cheapest available in Ireland and among the top five best priced in the UK.
The County Down track’s burgers were on the more expensive end of the scale at £9 (~€10.30), an above average price.

A spokesperson for Racing Post said: “For Downpatrick Racecourse to be declared as Ireland’s third best value for money racing venue is a fair feat in itself, but when you consider they also score highly in a British context too, it’s quite a feather in their cap.
“Nobody likes overpaying for entry to a sporting venue, and race-goers at Downpatrick are in no danger of doing that with Ireland’s second cheapest ticket price. With pints priced so reasonably, there’s little to fault the track on, and the TripAdvisor rating of 4.6 stars is testament to that.”
