Downpatrick Is Hot Cross Capital Of Northern Ireland

Downpatrick – and it’s Hot Cross Bun time again!

ASDA has revealed Downpatrick is ‘hopping’ mad about hot cross buns – as the County town has topped the charts in Northern Ireland for hot cross bun sales in 2018, closely followed by Enniskillen and Coleraine.

“Hot cross buns are now available all year round, but the demand really surges in the run up to Easter and we love to be able to make sure that the Easter tradition is alive in Downpatrick” said Georgie Groves, Asda Downpatrick In-store Bakery colleague.

Simon Fisher, Asda Downpatrick General Store Manager added: “It’s a great time of the year – Easter wouldn’t be Easter without hot cross buns on the table for all the family, and while there are many different variations on offer today including fudge and chocolate, our shoppers love the traditional fruit and spice recipe.

“We hope that 2019 will be just as ‘fruitful’ for hot cross bun sales in Downpatrick,” he added.

Mmmmm! Come try ASDA hot cross buns.
