Downpatrick Halloween Festival Bigger And Better This Year

The Downpatrick Community Collective have now finalise their spooktacular programme of events for a very spooky Halloween night on Monday 31 October in the St Patrick Square in Downpatrick.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Gillian Fitzpatrick joined members of the Downpatrick Community Collective to help launch the 2016 event. Cllr Fitzpatrick said: “The committee of the Collective have once again put together a wonderful evening of family fun that will entertain young and old. This is their fifth annual Downpatrick halloween event and it’s going to be bigger and better than before with lots of activities for all the family.

“Collective Vice Chairperson Macartan Digney said: “The Collective are delighted to offer another exciting spooktastic event which is open to everyone in the Downpatrick area to come along and enjoy. We have all the old favourites such as a fancy dress parade (meeting at the Down County Museum at 5.45pm). In the Square we have the bonfire beacon once again and join our own spooky trail, enjoy the live music and dancing, ghost stories and of course the pumpkin competition (with registration from 5.30pm in the Square.)

“And to top it all there will be a fabulous firework display.  The Downpatrick Community Collective would like to thank Newry Mourne and Down District Council, he Northern Ireland Housing executive, and the Arts Council NI for their sponsorship of this event.
