St Patrick’s Choral Society junior member Skye Gracey honoured in Killarney with top All-Island stage award

Skye Gracey (13) from Downpatrick is on top of the world after winning a coveted All-Island award from AIMS (the Association of Irish Musical Societies).

An enthusiastic junior member of the St Patrick’s Choral Society, Skye is celebrating a moment of immense pride along with her colleagues who tred the boards on musical productions entertaining full houses in Downpatrick at their various productions.

Skye was honoured in the Best Youth category in an Adult Show award at the prestigious AIMS awards held in Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney on Saturday 14th June.

The award was presented by AIMS’ president Jerry Sweeney and Vice President Sheamus Power and the show compere was Radio DJ Fergal D’Arcy.

The AIMS award is a music award that recognises and celebrates the achievement of independent artists in musical theatre. It acknowledges innovation, creativity, and outstanding performance.

Skye received her award for her brilliant performance as Brigitta in the society’s recent production of The Sound Of Music in the Great Hall in the Downshire Estate in Downpatrick.

Her character portrayal was praised for its charm, confidence and emotional depth – qualities that stood out in a highly competitive field.

The St Patrick’s Choral Society held a special celebration on Sunday 29th June to acknowledge how proud all the members are of both Skye’s personal achievement and her confident representation of the society itself at the awards ceremony. (see video link below!)

St Patrick’s Choral Society Chairperson Marie-Therese Ross said: “Skye is an extraordinary young talent. From the moment she stepped into rehearsals she brought a spark that lit up the entire production.

Marie-Therese added: THis award is not just a win for Skye, but for our entire society. It reflects the hard work, passion, and community spirit that goes into every one of our productions. “

Skye’s supportive parents Mark and Elena said: “We are incredibly proud of our daughter Skye for winning the AIMS award for her outstanding performance in the Sound of Music.
