From the start the game was played at a frantic pace, and tackles were flying in from all directions. Niall Strange pulled of a wonder save then cleared to release Decky Looney whose shot was just the other side of the post.

Moments later sloppy marking cost Downpatrick as the Shankill midfielder picked up the ball at the edge of the box and put his side in the lead. Downpatrick immediately levelled when Caolain Logue fired in a free kick that Looney met with a first time volley to level the scores.

Half Time: Downpatrick FC 1 v Shankill Juniors 1.
Downpatrick dominated the game especially in the second half but were guilty of missing chance after chance. Shankill made them pay when again their midfielder got free from his marker and scored at the back post. Downpatrick rallied for the last ten minutes and created a load of chances but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
