The committee, management and players would like to wish their star midfielder Conor ‘Copper’ Curran a speedy recovery. Conor unfortunately suffered a broken legxa0on Saturdayxa0playing for the firsts against Abbey Villa, his presence in midfield will be missed for the closing games of the season.
The firsts have had three matches in the space of 5 days and their squad has been stretched over those games, last Tuesday night they fell to a disappointing defeat to runaway leaders Derriaghy by a score line of two goals to nil. Thenxa0on Thursdayxa0they entertained Rosario YC and they got off to the worst possible start by conceding a goal after only thirty seconds. However the players dug deep and came away with a win, the final score was 4 – 2. Downpatrick’s goals came from Chrissy Mullan, Conor McKenna and a brace from Conor Curran. Their final game of the five day spell saw them welcome Abbey Villa to Rosconnorxa0on Saturday, Downpatrick won the game 2 – 1, the goals were scored by Sean McMahon Jnr and Gerdie Collins, this result was however overshadowed by the devastating injury to Conor Curran.

The seconds title ambitions suffered massively with two huge defeats last Thursday andxa0Saturday,xa0on Thursdayxa0night they were defeated in Dunleath by Newcastle seconds by two goals to nil. Thenxa0on Saturdayxa0they travelled to play Ballynahinch Olympic with a severely depleted squad and this showed when they were beat 6 – 0.
