For the first time in 25 years the most recent ‘meet’ in the firmus energy Super 6 athletics series was dedicated mostly to relay races.

Each age group from U-13 to seniors was offered a 4 x 100 metres competition and more than 50 teams took part, including relay runners from Down High School. There were no events for the minis but the older age groups were also able to take part in a few other track and field activities including the shot, long jump, javelin and hurdles.

Organised by Lagan Valley Athletics Club and supported by firmus energy, the next penultimate Super Six event will take place on 23 July from 6.30pm, with the final meet scheduled for 20 August.

The firmus energy Super Six is open to people of all abilities, aged 8 and over including those who want to come out and try the sport for the very first time through to serious competitors. For more information, please visit:

where participants can now pre-register for Meet 5 which will include sprints, long distance races, the hammer throw and javelin as well as the long, high and triple jump for some categories.
