Down District Council Health Fairs Planned For January

Down District Council in association with the Patient and Client Council and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), has announced details of their forthcoming Health Fairs scheduled in the New Year.

dn_screenFour Health Fairs are planned throughout the District and individuals and families are urged to come along and get helpful advice and guidance on keeping healthy from a variety of exhibitors who will be in attendance.

Organisations such as Cancer NI, Mental Health Awareness, British Heart Foundation, RNIB, FASA (Drugs and Alcohol), Women’s Aid, CAST etc., will be offering helpful tips on keeping yourself happy and healthy moving into 2015.

In addition free BMI checks will be available on the day.

So do yourself and your body a favour and come along to one of the events listed below:-

8th January 2015 10am – 2pm Downshire Civic Centre xa0- Conference Centre

8th January 2015 4 – 8pm Down Leisure Centre xa0- Games Room 13th January 2015 12 – 6pm Newcastle Leisure Centre – Games Room 22nd January 2015 10am – 4pm Market House Ballynahinch – Vincent Fulham Room

Council Chairman, Councillor William Walker speaking about the Health Fairs said: “While at the outset these Fairs had been scheduled for Council Staff and their families, the Health and Wellbeing Group felt that the events should be made available to the general public due to the wealth of information and advice available.

“I would encourage every resident to attend their nearest Health Fair to make 2015 the year they took positive steps to living a healthier lifestyle.”
