Down Captains Help Launch eir Camogie Championship

Ireland’s largest telecommunications provider and proud sponsor of the Camogie U16 All-Ireland Championship, is delighted to mark the official launch of the 2025 season, which threw-in on Sunday, 9th February.

This season also marks the beginning of eir’s three-year sponsorship agreement with the Camogie Association. 

As part of their sponsorship, eir is introducing the eir Game of the Week,” spotlighting one standout fixture each week from across all divisions.

The eir Player of the Match will be chosen from this featured game, celebrating outstanding performances throughout the competition.

Adding to the excitement, Cork Senior Camogie player and eir ambassador, Saoirse McCarthy, will attend the Game of the Week, providing exclusive updates via eir’s social media channels and personally selecting the Player of the Match.

This recognition will continue through to the Championship Finals at the end of April and beginning of May 2025, where eir will also present Player of the Match awards.  

Senior Camogie Player Saoirse McCarthy (Cork) joined All-Ireland U16 Camogie captains Eva Cunningham (Down), Niamh McCluskey (Down), Aoife Morrissey (Limerick), Roisin Coleman (Galway), Rebecca Clark (Cavan), Faith Dunne (Cavan), and Lucy Nolan (Wexford) in Dublin to officially launch the 2025 season, alongside Susan Brady, Managing Director of Consumer and Small Business at eir and Uachtarán of the Camogie Association, Brian Molloy. 

Susan Brady, Managing Director of Consumer and Small Business at eir, said at the launch: “At eir, our purpose is to connect for a better Ireland.

“And through our new three-year sponsorship of the Camogie U16 All-Ireland Championship, we are proud to support the next generation of female athletes.

“By enhancing visibility through the “eir Game of the Week” and recognising individual excellence with the “Player of the Match” awards, we are not just celebrating talent – we’re helping to inspire future generations of camogie players across Ireland. This is more than a sponsorship; it’s a commitment to the growth of women’s sport at every level.”

Brian Molloy, Uachtarán of the Camogie Association, said: “This season marks an exciting chapter for camogie with eir’s three-year commitment bringing new energy and visibility to the Championship.

“The introduction of the “eir Game of the Week” and “Player of the Match” recognition will give our young athletes the national stage they deserve.
