Disability Employment And Support Day Coming To Bangor

Disability Employment and Support Day to support local Employers and Potential Employees Across North Down

Ards and North Down Borough Council’s Labour Market Partnership (LMP) will host a Disability Employment and Support Day in Bangor’s Signal Centre on 28 February.

Labour Market Partnerships, which create targeted employment action plans for council areas, are funded by the Department for Communities, and allow for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.

The Disability Employment and Support Day is a new Ards and North Down LMP initiative that is designed to support employers as well as potential employees.

It is free-to-attend and will feature exhibitors that offer programmes and support packages.

They will be able to provide advice to employers as well as those who have a disability or neurodiverse condition, or their parents, guardians and carers.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Jennifer Gilmour, said: “The Ards and North Down Labour Market Partnership helps to create new opportunities for the people of our Borough.

“It addresses issues with jobs and training at a local level through locally focussed programmes.

“The Disability Employment and Support Day is the LMP’s latest new programme and will help to provide further support to our local employment market.”

Employers are encouraged to attend between 9.30am and 11am while all other attendees should visit between 11am and 1pm.

Employers can find out what support packages are available when they employ someone with a disability or neurodiverse condition, and get advice about training for staff.

All other attendees can get advice about employment options, programmes and support packages, as well as benefits and assistance.
