Overlooked cats in County Down look for love this Valentine’s Day
This Valentine’s Day, two overlooked cats at Cats Protection Northern Ireland Cat Centre are hoping to find their perfect matches.
Affectionate, 10-year-old moggy Molly is the centre’s longest resident after spending more than 300 days in the team’s care.
And three-year-old and three-legged Piper has spent most of her life in a rescue environment and has never experienced a loving home.
Deputy Centre Manager, Rachael Robinson, said: “While we give our cats lots of love, there is no substitute for a forever home. We would love to finally find Molly and Piper the homes they deserve.
“Molly has had a long wait for her forever home. After initially struggling with life in an adoption centre environment, she has since flourished after moving into a temporary foster home with her confidence growing more every day.
“Molly enjoys being petted, but she also has an independent side and likes to explore her surroundings. A home with safe outdoor access would be ideal for this inquisitive cat.
“She can be shy at times, so we think she would thrive most in a peaceful household with no other pets. After such a long wait, we would love to find her the retirement home she deserves.”
Piper is a resilient cat, who came into Cats Protection after suffering for quite some time with a severely damaged leg. To give her the best quality of life, the difficult decision was made by veterinary professionals to amputate her leg.
Rachael added: “We are looking for a special home for Piper. Despite her amputation, she is a playful, energetic young cat who spends most of her time pouncing on mice or batting at fishing-rod toys.
“She especially loves climbing up her cat tower and watching what is happening around her.
“Piper can be very affectionate, but also likes to have her own space at times. She would be best suited to a calm, cat-experienced home with no other pets or young children. She would also benefit from outdoor access.
“Piper has bags of personality and greets our team every morning with her loud meows and chirps. Whoever adopts her can look forward to a home filled with laughter thanks to her quirky nature.”
