Councillor Willie Clarke (Sinn Féin) has warned residents in the Newcastle area to be vigilant following a number of oil and gas tankxa0thefts from homes in recent days.
He said:xa0″It has been brought to our attention that last week xa0a number of residents from the Mourne View Road and Dundrum Road areas of Newcastle have had their home heating oil and gas tanks stolen.
“I would urge residents to be alert for any suspicious activity in their area and to take all precautions to protect their fuel. At a time when many people are struggling to pay fuel bills and such actions cause great distress and financial hardship as no one in this day and age can afford the unbudgeted expense of having to refill an oil tank.”]]>
