“This event was organised by the Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), as an action from the anti-social behaviour plan that has been rolled out in the area. Also participating in the event were members from the Down Rural Community Network, SEELB youth services, Kairos centre and local resident groups.

“I was encouraged that so many residents turned out to this event. It was a great opportunity for the people of Newcastle to get to know each other and make a difference to their community. I would like to thank all those members of the community and agencies who have worked together and will continue to work in partnership to make Newcastle a safer environment to live in.

“The event concluded with refreshments and a presentation by the PSNI Neighbourhood officers into keeping safe during Halloween and being responsible with fireworks,” added Cllr Willie Clarke.
