For the first time, Newry Moune and Down District Council is delighted to launch their new District wide arts, culture and museums programme which runs from January to April 2016.
Speaking about the exciting new programme, Council Chairperson Cllr Naomi Bailie said: “Constituents in the former Down District Council will be used to the joint Down Arts Centre and Down Country Museum season programme that was issued three times a year and included events at both Downpatrick based venues.[caption id="attachment_60591" align="aligncenter" width="540"] At the launch of the new Newry Mourne and Down District Council-wide arts and culture programme were Rachel Kennedy, Arts Officer at Down Arts Centre; Cllr Naomi Bailie, Council Chairperson; Linda McKenna, Down County Museum Education Officer with Declan Carrol, Education Officer at Newry and Mourne Museum.[/caption]
“Now that our district has expanded to the Newry and Mourne district area, COuncil felt it should produce a district wide arts, culture and museum programme to include events at the Sean Hollywood Centre, Newry Town Hall, Warrentown Town Hall and Newry and Mourne Museum to ensure that we offer all who live, work and visit the district, opportunities to engage with arts and culture at a meaningful level.
“I hope that by reading this programme you will find something to enjoy, entertain and enlighten you over the coming months. With such a wide variety of quality local arts, culture, great comedy, theatre, children’s events and much more, there’s certainly enough to keep everyone busy.”
