Council Supports Community Relations Week 2015

Newry Mourne and Down District Council has put in place a programme of activity to celebrate Community Relations Week 2015 (28 September – 4 October).

The theme for 2015 is ‘One Place Many People’ and the Good Relations Unit of the Council has organised a series of lectures which will focus on themes such as women and children in the famine, flags and emblems, forgiveness, and the great war.

The programme includes a multi-cultural concert for all post-primary schools in the district. The concert will use music to recognise the diverse and inter-cultural society in Newry Mourne and Down and will be a key tribute to recognise the theme of ‘One Place Many People’.

Council Chairperson Councillor Naomi Bailie said: “Newry Mourne and Down District has a vibrant cohesive community which is reflected in the excellent services and participation across our community and voluntary sectors. We hope community relations week will highlight the exceptional ethos of partnership working and community integration which Newry, Mourne and Down District is proud to showcase.”
