Council Nominates Davina’s Ark Nominated for Prestigious IPB Pride of Place Award
Newry-based charity Davina’s Ark has been nomintaed for an IPB Pride of Place Award 2025 in the City Category for best Community Wellbeing Initiative by Newry Mourne and Down District Council.
The IPB Pride of Place Awards, organised by Co-operation Ireland and sponsored by IPB Insurance, is an all-island competition that acknowledges and celebrates the vital contributions made by people to their local communities.
The awards recognise groups that work with heart and commitment to make their communities better places to live, work and socialise.
On Thursday 28 August, judges from the Pride of Place competition visited Davina’s Ark to hear directly about the charity’s impact and the difference it makes in people’s lives.
Founded in Newry, it provides professional aftercare and support for individuals and families affected by addiction.
The charity delivers a holistic programme of counselling, therapeutic interventions, education and family support services.
Its work not only supports recovery but also helps rebuild relationships, restore hope and strengthen the wider community.
Speaking at the judging event, Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Phillip Campbell, said: “This year’s nominee, Davina’s Ark, is a very worthy recipient of our Council’s nomination for the IPB Pride of Place Awards.
“Their commitment to supporting people and families through recovery has transformed countless lives, and it is wonderful to see the charity gaining the recognition it deserves.
“Davina’s Ark is a shining example of the strength of community spirit here in Newry.”
The IPB Pride of Place Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday 7 November in County Limerick, where Davina’s Ark will represent the district among other outstanding community initiatives from across the island.
