Council Chair Hosts Erasmus Sea Breeze Reception

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick, hosted a reception for teachers involved in the Erasmus Sea Breeze Programme. Guests from Finland, Spain, Greece, Italy and local hosts, Ballyholland Primary School, were all welcomed to the Council Chamber in Newry on Wednesday 8 February 2017.

Councillor Fitzpatrick also congratulated the teachers from Ballyholland Primary School on being one of the five partner schools in the project which involves schools located close to sea coasts.

Councillor Fitzpatrick made a presentation showing the beauty and diversity of locations throughout the Newry, Mourne and Down area and said: “One of Newry Mourne and Down District Council’s strategic objectives is the protection of the natural environment and the Council aim to become one of the premier tourist destinations on the island of Ireland, our seas, beaches and coastline all play an important role in helping us to achieve that aim”.
