A Department of Health Consultation on the future of hospital services ends on Friday at 5pm says the Down Community Health Committee
This is a simple and stark message from the Down Community Health Committee chairman, Eamonn McGrady.
In making a last call for people to make submissions to the Department of Health, he is asking people in the East Down area to complete a submission to the Department of Health’s consultation.
He said: “If you wish to see the Downe Hospital services being enhanced and the attrition and discrimination of the last 40 years reversed, please email the Department of Health and tell them that you demand restoration of services at the Downe Hospital, recognising its unique location and circumstances.

“Please email:
“immediately with the Downe Hospital being recognised and resourced as a proper general hospital and not downgraded to a local hospital.
“The full consultation document can be found online and is entitled:
“Hospitals-Creating a Network for Better Outcomes.”
There has been considerabe investment in hospital infrastructure and systems in Belfast and comparably less in the Downe Hospital.
The Down Community Health Committee says it is important that people in the East Down area make their voices heard.
