Cllr Clarke Fears For Rats Infestation At Newcastle Harbour

Clarke calls on council officers to address possible rat infestation at Newcastle harbour

Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke is concerned at increased reports of a possible rat infestation in the Harbour area of Newcastle.

Cllr Willie Clarke has received reports of an increase in the number of rats around Newcastle harbour.

Councillor Clarke said: “I have been contacted by residents from the Harbour area and they have reported to me that the number of rats reported has increased over the last number of months.

“With winter now on us I would urge that residents take every precaution to ensure that rats cannot get into their homes, out-houses, or garden sheds.

“I have raised this issue with council Environmental Health officers to ensure the necessary measures are put in place to reduce the infestation.”

Rats spread diseases including Weils Disease which is a very debilitating illness to contract.
