Removal of section of a wall causing obstruction welcomed by Cllr Willie Clarke

Mourne’s Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has welcomed the removal of a wall that was obstructing a public pedestrian footpath on the Bryansford Road / Rowley Meadows junction in Newcastle.

Sinn Fein Cllr Willie Clarke has welcomed the removal of a wall causing a footpath obstruction in Newcastle.

Councillor Willie Clarke said: “It is an issue that has been lobbied on by a number of elected representatives, including myself over many years.

“This unacceptable obstacle, impacted on all pedestrians, including the elderly, disabled, citizens with mobility difficulties, and young mothers with buggies.

“Residents have welcomed the removal of this section of wall.

“Pedestrians now do not have to be forced to walk onto the Bryansford Road, risking their lives from oncoming vehicles,” said Cllr Clarke.
