Clarke Welcomes Islands Park Improvements

A new family amenity and play area coming to the Islands Park area has been welcomed by Cllr Willie Clarke

Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has welcomed the start of refurbishment works at Islands Play Park, Newcastle, when construction will begin this month

Cllr Clarke said: “This is fantastic news for Newcastle.

“I am pleased to see work begin on this long-awaited upgrade to Islands Park Play Park.

Cllr Willie Clarke says he is delighted that work has begun at the Islands Car Park area in Newcastle to create a new amenity and play area for families to enjoy.

“The investment will create a vibrant, inclusive, and modern play space that children and families will enjoy for generations.

“Play facilities are the heartbeat of community life, and this project shows real commitment to making Newcastle an even better place to live and play.

“To allow time for these improvements, the play park will be temporarily closed for approximately 8–16 weeks, and five car park spaces will be sectioned off for contractor storage.

“I want to thank residents for their patience during this short closure.

“The result will be worth the wait for a fantastic new play park that will be a real asset to Newcastle and a source of joy for local families.” added Cllr Clarke.
