Sailing Academy proposed for Newcastle Harbour

Sinn Féin Councillorxa0Williexa0Clarkexa0proposed at the recent Economic Regeneration and Tourism council committee of Newry Mourne and Down District Council that a pilot scheme for a new sailing academy at Newcastle harbour be introduced.

Cllr Clarke said: “This will be a great boost for local tourism in the area and a welcome addition to the existing successful boat tours.

“With the rise in water based sports; this will offer great opportunities to the local community here in Newcastle and surrounding areas. We look forward to the development of this proposal.

“There is a constant interest in sailing and now we are looking towards the end of the Covid period, it is a good time to consider this initiative.”

Mourne’s Councillor Willie Clarke is keen to support a sailing academy in Newcastle harbour.
