Cllr Willie Clarke addresses issue of livestock worrying in the High Mournes

Sinn Féin Mourne’s Councillor Willie Clarke has brought a motion to Newry Mourne and Down District Council regarding concerns in relation to the increasing number of livestock worrying in the High Mournes area.

Newcastle Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has brought a motion to council to help curb livestock worrying in the High Mournes.

The motion has been tabled following several attacks on a local farmers livestock.

These attacks resulted in several sheep being killed on the Glen River, Newcastle, and other attacks in the High Mournes.

Cllr Clarke said: “The motion will mandate Council to develop an initiative alongside relevant partners that aims to raise awareness of the impact that dogs off leads and out of control can have on livestock.

“Furthermore, Council will roll out a publicity campaign in conjunction with any such initiatives to effectively get the message out to people in the district in relation to this important issue affecting livestock farmers”.
