Burren Meadow flooding needs to be fixed says Cllr Willie Clarke
Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke Calls on DFI and APEX Housing to Address Flooding at Burren Meadow Entrance
Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has called on the Department for Infrastructure (DFI) and APEX Housing Association to take urgent action to address ongoing flooding issues at the entrance to Burren Meadow in Newcastle.
Cllr Clarke said: “Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the continual flooding at the entrance to Burren Meadow, which becomes impassable during periods of heavy rainfall.

“The problem is not only causing inconvenience but also poses a real hazard to pedestrians, who are regularly drenched by passing vehicles as they try to navigate the flooded area.”
He added: “This situation has persisted for far too long. It is essential that DFI Roads and APEX Housing work together to identify the cause of the drainage failure and implement a permanent solution.
“Residents deserve a safe and accessible entrance to their homes, free from the constant risk of flooding.
“I will continue to press both agencies to ensure that remedial works are prioritised and completed without further delay. This is a basic issue of public safety and proper infrastructure maintenance.”
