Christmas To Come Early To Killyleagh

It’ll soon be time for Killyleagh to sparkle with Festive Cheer at the Annual Christmas Festival on Wednesday 3rd December 2025

The historic town of Killyleagh is set to dazzle once again as it hosts its much-loved annual Christmas Festival on Wednesday, 3rd December.

Sean O’Brien, Chairman of Killyleagh Development Association said: “With a strong focus on family-friendly fun and community spirit, this year’s event promises an enchanting evening of music, lights, and festive surprises.

“The celebrations will centre around the top of the High Street, with activities beginning at 4:00pm.

‘Visitors can explore a vibrant Artisan Market at the Dufferin Coaching Inn, showcasing handcrafted gifts and local delicacies, while craft and food stalls near the Masonic Lodge offer seasonal treats and creative finds.

“A highlight of the evening is the Lantern Walk, featuring children from both local schools parading to the castle with handmade lanterns.

“I just can’t wait for my first Christmas.” Don’t miss the Killyleagh Christmas event on Wednesday 3rd December starting at 4pm.

“Adding a whimsical twist, Christmas-decorated ostriches will join the procession, bringing smiles and laughter to young festival-goers.

At approximately 4:30pm, the community will gather for a Carol Programme led by school and church choirs, followed by the grand arrival of Santa Claus at 5:00pm.”

Sean added: “Children can then visit Santa’s Grotto, located inside the Masonic Lodge, and enjoy free festive food provided by local vendors.

“Additional activities include face painting, creative workshops led by Down Community Arts, and a chance to admire the town’s Christmas Tree, adorned with decorations made by local children.

“The evening will culminate in the Christmas Light Switch-On at 6:30pm, illuminating the town in seasonal splendour.

Residents are also encouraged to take part in the Community Decoration Competition, open to all properties within the Killyleagh 30mph zone.

Prizes include a £150 Christmas Meat Hamper and meal vouchers for two at local restaurants. The best dressed house in Shrigley will receive a £100 voucher.

“This festival is a celebration of everything that makes Killyleagh special — creativity, community, and Christmas joy,” said organisers. “We invite everyone to come out, support local makers, and share in the magic.”

So come along and get set for an evening of fun and Christmas spirit and wrap up well to keep the winter chill at bay.
