Alliance Ards and North Down Councillor Gillian Greer has secured the lighting up of two local landmarks to mark Children’s Hospice Week.

The Council will light up McKee Clock in Bangor and Ards Arts Centre in rainbow colours on June 22, following a push from Councillor Greer. The week is designed to raise awareness and funds for children’s hospice and palliative care services across the UK.

“I’m absolutely delighted to see Ards and North Down Borough Council raising awareness on such an important issue, and look forward to seeing our local landmarks lit up and the powerful conversations that will come from that,” she said.

“The Children’s Hospice provides an essential service – all the more important at this challenging time as we all learn the confines of our new normal and how we will live with COVID-19.

“The Hospice brings comfort and aid to so many families in their time of need. I would encourage everyone to think about the important work they carry out as we mark this worthwhile cause next week.”
