Celtic Bhoys FC Notes For 1st November 2021

The first team progressed to the semi-final of the Bobby Dalzell cup in convincing fashion following a 7-0 win over Newcastle Swift’s. Blaine Connolly (2), Jay Gibney, Jordan Mccoubrey, Corey McCartan, Shaun Megahey and Sean McMahon scoredthe goals for the Hoops writes Stephen Torney.

The youth and senior matches were kindly sponsored at the weekend by Anneliese Bright of Fitzpatrick’s Bar in Downpatrick.

The Athletic side also had an emphatic 10-0 victory over Ballyhalbert Utd with Conaill Kerr (4), Donal McCavera (3) Arron Magarry, Aidey Connolly & Mark Cahir scoring the goals.

The Academy squad lost out 2-1 to Drumaness IIs with Sean McMahon getting on the scoresheet for the hoops. 

With the DYFL having a break for Halloween only the U15s and U19s were in action in the South Belfast league at the weekend.

The under 15 squad had another strong  5-1 victory over Lisburn Youth with Morgan McCoubrey (2) William Taggart (2) and Patrick Houston getting the goals for the hoops.

The under 19s put up a gallant display in the Harry Cavan cup but we’re helpless to avoid defeat to a strong Glentoran academy squad with the game finishing 6-0 to the Irish league side.

The DYFL will return this weekend following the Halloween break. On Saturday the under 11s face Tollymore at 9.30am in Ballyhornan.

The under 14s face Valley Rangers at 9.30am in Ballykinler. The U12s have no fixture this week.
On Sunday the four mini soccer teams will also return to the DYFL small sided games centre at St Patrick Grammar School pitches, with the U8s on at 11.30am followed by the U10s at 12.30.

At the time of print the South Belfast youth fixtures for the under 15 & 19 squads had not been issued. Coaches will advise of the various fixtures at training this week.
