Council Chairperson Hosts Catch Up and Connect Tea Dance

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Cathy Mason, hosted a Catch Up and Connect Tea Dance recently in the Millbrook Lodge Hotel, Ballynahinch.

Over 70 senior citizens from across the district came together to enjoy lunch and an afternoon of music and entertainment provided by Gerard Dornan from Country Harmony.

The event gave residents an opportunity to meet and reconnect socially with others, as many have been experiencing isolation and loneliness over 18 months as a result of COVID-19.

Cllr. Mason added: “Whilst we still face many challenges as a society, we are blessed to live in an area where we have such beauty on our doorstep. As we begin to lead active and healthy lives once again, I encourage each of you to check in with older friends and neighbours who may be less able to get out and about, and to remember to take some time out of your busy daily lives, for your own self-care.”
