A renal patient at the Ulster Hospital has made a generous donation on her 70th birthday
Kathleen McKenny from Castlewellan has made a heartfelt donation of £1,100 to the Renal Unit at the Ulster Hospital.
Kathleen recently celebrated her 70th birthday and instead of receiving gifts, she asked her friends and family to contribute towards a donation for the Unit, raising an impressive sum.

Kathleen explained why she decided to donate to the unit and said: “The Renal Unit has been a huge part of my life for many years, and I wanted to recognise the incredible work of the staff.
“I wanted this donation to be a way of giving back for the amazing care I have received over the years.”
Kathleen also expressed her gratitude to those who contributed saying: “I would like to thank my family and friends for their very generous donations. I really appreciate this kind gesture to mark my 70th birthday.”
Renal Unit, Deputy Sister, Tanya Brown praised Kathleen’s thoughtfulness, and said: “We are so appreciative of this wonderful donation to the Unit.
“It will go towards enhancing patient comforts to make their journey that little bit more special.”
