Castlewellan GAC Notes For 5 January 2014

* As the Club prepares for 2014 we will be approaching people to help with Coaching and would ask members to think very seriously about this and please reply positively. We have 27 teams within our Club which provide games for all ages in all codes. As you can appreciate it takes a huge pool of resources to run these teams so again please do what you can to help us out. We will also be appealing to parents to help out in whatever way they can in terms of transport etc. Anyone interested in coaching or helping out please contact John O’Neill on 07711737610dn_screen

* Congratulations to Anna Rogan and Aoife Keown who were named in the Colleges All-Star Camogie Team for 2013. Anna plays her Colleges Camogie with St Malachy’s High School in Castlewellan and Aoife with the Assumption Grammar in Ballynahinch. Both girls who are normally team mates squared off against each other in a recent Ulster Final which Assumption Grammar came out tops. Also in the news lately Sorcha McCartan was part of the St Louis Team Kilkeel who won an Ulster Camogie title just before Christmas. Well done to all three schools in their endeavours and in representing your county so well.

* It was good to see two Castlewellan men in the shape of Michael Cunningham and Aidan Brogan involved in the McKenna Cup with Queens University in their Universities match with Armagh. Unfortunately they were on the wrong end of a four point on what was weather wise the worst possible day to be playing football.

* The numbers for 05 January 2014 were lotto were 05, 07, 18 & 26. There were no jackpot and one £20 winners this week; Paul McVeigh. Next week’s Jackpot is £5500.
