Castlewellan GAC Notes For 3 July 2016

*  It was with great sadness last week that we learned of the passing of Nathan Clarke, father of our two juvenile players Dearbhla and Enya. Nathan fought a long and brave battle against cancer and it was an illness he bore with great dignity. To his Wife Caroline and his two girls we are sorry for your loss. The Executive Committee and members of CLG Naomh Maolmhoig Caisleán a’ Mhuilinn wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Clarke Family and the wider family circle on Nathan’s passing. Ar dheis de go raibh a snam dilis.

* Commiserations to Aoife Keown and the Down Senior Ladies who lost out to Tyrone by four points in the Ulster Intermediate Final in Clones last Sunday. A close and tight affair against a team who competed at senior level this year. Our Down Ladies have not had it easy in the last couple of years their All-Ireland but have shown great character and resolve to come back again. Congratulations to them on all the hard work they have done.

* Saturday morning juvenile coaching sessions have now ended for a four week summer break and will recommence again on Saturday July 30th. The Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents, senior players and coaches for their dedication and commitment to these sessions during the year and we will see you all again on the last Saturday in July. We hope the children have enjoyed them. Thanks also to the coaches of all our juvenile teams in all codes as they now also approach their summer break and a well-deserved rest.

*Well done to our juvenile player Niamh Sharkey who represented Down U14 Camog’s against Antrim this weekend. It is great to see our young players represent their county in any of the Gaelic disciplines. Keep it going Niamh!

*The Town remain at the top of the senior league following a two point win over visitors Kilcoo last Wednesday Night in St Malachy’s Park. A close encounter with both teams having their dominant periods during the game. Next up is another local derby with Bryansford in Newcastle this week in what should be another tight affair. As usual with Bryansford expect a tough, tight affair.

* Last week’s lotto numbers were 10, 16, 17 & 24. There were no Jackpot winners and two £20 winners. This week’s jackpot will be £2,250.
