Carlingford Lough Ferry Relaunches Daily Service with New Cruise Experiences
Newry Mourne and Down District Council is delighted to welcome back the popular Carlingford Lough Ferry as it resumes its full daily service, offering a fast, scenic and convenient connection across Carlingford Lough.
This vital link, running seven days a week between Greencastle, County Down and Greenore, Co Louth and return, not only shortens travel times but also enhances access to one of the most breathtaking regions – the Mourne Gullion Strangford Geopark.
In addition to the Ferry services and part of the growing tourism in the area, Carlingford Cruises offers a varied programme of scheduled cruise experiences throughout the summer months.
These include sunset and twilight cruises, Lough and lighthouse cruises, and a selection of themed cruises — all designed to give passengers a unique perspective on the natural beauty of Carlingford Lough, the majestic Mourne Mountains and the wildlife-rich shoreline of this spectacular region.
The combination of the daily ferry service and the immersive cruises is expected to significantly boost tourism for Carlingford Lough and the wider region, local economic development, while also supporting sustainable travel options within the region.

Sailing Schedule Summer 2025
- From Greencastle (Co. Down): Departures on the hour, every hour.
- From Greenore (Co. Louth): Departures on the half-hour, every hour.
- June – First Sailing 10am – Last Sailing 6.30pm
- July & August – First Sailing – 9am and Last Sailing 8.30pm
- September – First Sailing 10am – Last Sailing 6.30pm
