Carer Columba Lowry Retires After 40 Years

South Eastern Trust bids farewell to a dedicated support worker


After more than four decades of service, South Eastern Trust Support Worker, Columba Lowry has retired from the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust.

Columba Lowry has retired after 40 year providing support to patients in the previous Down Lisburn Trust and the South Eastern HSC Trust.

Columba began his career in 1984 with the former Down & Lisburn Trust, dedicating his working life to caring for others.

Throughout his career, he served in a variety of roles, including psychiatric wards, before spending the last ten years working in Mental Health Supported Living.

Known for his wit, humour and compassionate approach, Columba built strong and lasting relationships with Service Users, patients and colleagues. His practical support and friendly manner made a real difference to the lives of those he cared for.

Slievegrane Supported Living Manager, Chris Lowry, thanked Columba for his many years of dedication, and said: “Columba has been a valued member of our team for many years.

“His warmth, humour and dedication to the Service Users have left a lasting impression on everyone who has had the privilege of working with him.

“Columba will be greatly missed by both staff and the Service Users. We wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement.”
