Bright GAC Notes – Ladies Going Well

The club would like to extend its sincere condolences to the Morgan family on the death of Danny. Danny was an ex-manager, referee and great supporter of the club. Mary Queen of the Gael pray for him. Saturday night saw the Ladies, finally after 16 years win their first league title in an exciting match away to Saul. Although they have still two games to play, they have remained unbeaten (8wins out of 8 games) and so Saturday nights game confirmed their league champion status writes Ciara Sharvin.
It was a tough match, played in very hot weather. The girls started off slow in the first half, but after an emotional half time team talk the second half saw them play to their full potential.  With the support of all those from the club who came to cheer them on and with the glimpse of silverware only 30 mins away the girls racked it up a gear and powered to victory 2-13 to 0-6. Absolutely fantastic game from all the girls, the effort and committment throughout the year finally paid dividends, well done to you all and to your management team of Christopher Tumelty, Dee Sharvin and Gabriel Clendenning.  Bright GAC is very proud of you. Scores from Sarah Venney (0-4), Emma McAleese (2-3), Natasha Lavery (0-2) Mary McGrady (0-2), Michelle Lavery (0-1), & Elaine Watson (0-1).  Training continues Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6.45pm. Due to the tragic death of Kevin O’Hare last weekend, the mens match against Dromara was cancelled.  Training continues Monday night. The Under-10’s would like to call on all boys and girls to come out to play. Training takes place on Wednesdayevenings at 6pm with a blitz normally taking place on Saturday. Come along and join in the fun. The Under-14’s were involved in another exciting game on Monday 3rd June against Loughinisland. Unfortunately this time they lost this one 6-07 to 6-08. Loughinisland scored a goal with the last kick of the game to sink a very unlucky Bright side. Daniel McMenamin, Conor Burns, Sam Dinu & Marc Burke got the goals. John Burns, Anton Cooper, Taylor Broggy helped out with some fine point scoring. Jordon Rogan pulled off a great save in the first half to keep Bright in touch. Kain Tierney, Paul Tempany, Curtis Ward and Mateo Crispie also played well. Unlucky lads.  Keep the heads up and keep at it, the club is very proud of you all.
