Bright GAC Notes For 23 June 2019

Many thanks to Exquisite Tiles Ltd for sponsoring a match ball for the home game versus Dundrum writes Cyril McKinney. R

Bright 1-10 Dundrum 0-05

The division four title race is now wide open with Bright  inflicting the first defeat of the season on table toppers and  previously unbeaten Dundrum.

Kyran Smyth’s young team imposed themselves from the start and were good value for this win and were the better team for most of the game. There was some great performances all over the pitch including Barry Mageean  and Seamus Tumelty in defence who calmly snuffed out any attacking threat that came their way. Declan Trainor and  Caolan Toner dominated  midfield for long periods while up front Dundrum could not find the answer to  the pace and craft of  Gareth George and the incredible Jack McLaughlin who was in fine form along with Kevin Groves.

Although Dundrum took the lead Bright fought back and by halftime was 0-4 to 0-3 ahead thanks to well taken scores from Kevin Groves, Freddie O’Connor, Gareth George and Owen McEvoy.

After the restart Dundrum levelled with a long range free but from then on Bright stamped their authority on the game with some quick incisive and  flowing football which produced some great scores from O’Connor, McLaughlin (0-3), George and Trainor.

Marc Burke showed his class with a well taken instinctive goal  by chipping the stranded Dundrum keeper following a poor kick out. Overall a great performance from a Bright team starting to grow in confidence going into the second half of the season and this augers well for the weeks ahead especially with a couple of games in hand.

Bright team captain Freddie O’Connor with Bright juveniles Caoimhe and Conor present a match ball from Fintan Bradley of Exquisite Tiles Ltd.
